Kitchen Design Ideas for Cambridgeshire Homes
When it comes to designing the heart of your home, choosing the right kitchen style is key — especially here in Cambridgeshire, where character homes, countryside cottages, and new-builds each bring their own unique design challenges and opportunities.
At KBE Kitchens, we specialise in creating bespoke kitchens tailored to the lifestyle and personality of each client. Whether you’re based in Newborough, Peterborough, or elsewhere in the PE6 area, here are some standout kitchen design ideas to inspire your next project.
1. Classic Shaker Kitchens – Timeless and Elegant
Shaker-style kitchens are a popular choice in Cambridgeshire, particularly in period properties and farmhouses. Known for their simple, functional design and solid craftsmanship, they suit both traditional and modern interiors.
Add local flavour with painted cabinets in soft sage or muted navy, paired with butcher block worktops and classic hardware.

2. Modern Handleless Kitchens – Sleek and Stylish
For newer homes and open-plan living spaces, handleless kitchens provide a seamless and minimalist look. High-gloss finishes, integrated appliances, and LED lighting combine function with high-end aesthetics.
For a striking modern design:
Choose matte slab doors in charcoal or white.
Pair with quartz worktops and pop-up sockets.

3. Two-Tone Colour Schemes – Add Depth and Interest
Two-tone kitchens are a growing trend across the UK, and Cambridgeshire homeowners are embracing the look. Mixing colours adds depth, especially in open-plan kitchens or kitchens with limited natural light.
Try:
Dark base units with light wall cabinets.
A contrasting island in forest green or deep blue.
4. Kitchens Designed for Country Living
If you live in one of Cambridgeshire’s beautiful rural areas like Thorney or Eye, a kitchen with warm textures and natural finishes can tie the indoors to the outdoors.
Think:
Exposed timber beams
Belfast sinks
Open shelving
Natural stone or tiled flooring
This rustic style works particularly well in older homes and barn conversions.
5. Make It Yours with Bespoke Features
Your kitchen should reflect your lifestyle — whether you’re a budding chef, a busy family, or an entertainer at heart. At KBE Kitchens, we offer fully bespoke designs that include:
Custom larder units
Built-in wine racks
Breakfast bars
Smart storage solutions
Our tailored approach ensures every inch of your kitchen is designed around how you use it.
